Guernsey Post’s headquarters is located at Envoy House, La Vrangue, St Peter Port, Guernsey. As an integral part of island life, employing over 300 staff with purpose built headquarters offering an unrivalled commercial working environment, It moved to its current location in December 2002. The move benefited all staff, but most of all postmen and women. Before relocating all mail was manually sorted, which was becoming more and more difficult due to the volume of mail increasing
Postal Operations
Over 70 million items of mail are handled each year; the Guernsey Post Network provides support throughout the Bailiwick, which consists of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm. Guernsey Post is the agent for Royal Mail services such as Royal Mail Special Delivery, and also for FedEx, Data Post and Parcel Force deliveries within the Bailiwick. These services are provided using an electronic tracking system that records and obtains electronic signatures for over 1000 daily parcel deliveries across the seven routes on the island. There is online tracking available to customers using FedEx, Royal Mail Special Delivery and Parcel Force services.
Retail Network
Guernsey Post is much more than a postal operator offering a multitude of services. The Retail network comprises of 11 post offices throughout the Bailiwick. Some offer services such as Internet access, lottery tickets, mobile top-up cards, greetings cards, Karl Taylor photography, photo booth, and all carry the most recent addition - financial services, provided in conjunction with locally based financial services provided, Cherry Godfrey.
Business Services
Guernsey Post aids local businesses in creating partnerships through facilitating communications with their customers. Guernsey Post provides a range of services specifically customised to the requirements of the modern business. They are designed to help communicate with customers and associates effectively, quickly and inexpensively. The services Guernsey Post provides to businesses include private boxes, franking services, timed delivery and collections and occasional pre-booked bulk mail collections.
Helping the Community
Guernsey Post provided support to the BBC Radio Guernsey MRI Scanner Appeal with Hamilton Brooke and raised over £106,000, which is nearly 25% of the total £450,000 needed by the appeal. This amazing sum was achieved with the delivery of 30,000 donation envelopes to Bailiwick residents. The envelopes were returned across the Bailiwick, fast and generously, to post offices.
World Renowned Stamps Issues
The stamps produced by Guernsey Post are collected worldwide. Guernsey and Alderney stamps are world renowned for their design and quality. The first independent Guernsey postage stamps were designed and printed in 1969. Guernsey Post now produces 12 issues of stamps annually. Over the years many aspects of island life have been celebrated and significant occasions commemorated on Guernsey and Alderney stamps. Topics of past issues include the sea, the natural world, agriculture and horticulture, transport, sport, Royalty, cars, Christmas, military, art and entertainment.
