Don't forget: Post is changing on April 1st

Guernsey Post is reminding its customers that the way they are charged for letters, cards and small packages will change this Thursday 1st April.

The new way of charging for post, PiP or "Pricing in Proportion" means that new prices and formats will apply from 1st April.

The new formats are "Letter" (the standard letter size); "Large Letter" ( e.g. CDs and DVDs in case) and "Packet" (for more bulky items)

Every household and business in the Islands has been sent an easy to use "letter size guide" to help them with the changes. Full information on the new formats is available on our Post is Changing website.

From 1st April the price of a standard Letter to the UK will rise from 43p to 45p, though the price of a standard local Letter will remain at 36p.

The postage rate for the new Large Letter format (up to 100g) will be 48p for a local Large Letter and 58p for a Large Letter to the UK.

Guernsey Post's head of commercial relations Peter Emberson explained the changes: "Broadly speaking, the smaller and flatter the item is, the less it will cost to post. For example, a sheet of A4 paper sent unfolded in an envelope would be classed as a Large Letter, whereas the same piece of paper, folded in half, would be classed as a Letter, saving customers 12p on the price of a local stamp.

"If customers do have any questions or are unsure of how much an item would cost to post they can call customer services or pop into any of our branches and our staff will be happy to help," said Mr Emberson.
