Guernsey Post Introduce Changes to Postal Deliveries

As part of Guernsey Post's restructure of Sorting Office operations; the company has today confirmed that it will be implementing a number of changes to its postal delivery structure on Monday 20th June 2011.

Boley Smillie Chief Executive of Guernsey Post said:
"We have been working closely with both our Operational Staff and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) to implement a number of essential changes to our Sorting Office operations.

On Monday 20th June, as part of our savings programme, we will be introducing the first of the operational changes to our postal delivery structure; this involves reducing the number or postal rounds by ten.

Due to the decline in core mail volumes, we recognise that significant changes must to be made to our business in order for us to remain as efficient and as competitive as we possibly can."

Colin Gontier, Branch Secretary for the CWU said:
"The postal industry is facing a great number of challenges and the CWU is fully committed to working with Guernsey Post to overcome these.

We recognise that by introducing these changes, Guernsey Post is taking an important step to ensuring the long term success of its business."

Guernsey Post is advising its Bailiwick customers that postal workers will be working hard to fully familiarise themselves with their new delivery rounds and we would like to apologise in advance for any disruption this may cause. Some customers will experience changes to their delivery times, but we will continue to strive to ensure rounds are completed by 1pm.
