Post Paints and Decorates

Ten Guernsey Post employees recently donated their own time to work on the Bridge Youth House, giving it a final push towards a spring opening.

The centre will provide a place for young people to visit, initially on a Friday & Saturday night, and aims to reduce anti social behaviour in The Bridge area.

The inside of the property has been completely renovated over the last year by a number of volunteers and the Guernsey Post team came in to help finish off the decorating.

The team worked on several areas including the façade of the Commercial Road property that required re painting, and the entrance, stairwell and toilet areas.

The work was carried out across two shifts. The first in the afternoon consisting of posties who'd finished their morning rounds concentrating on the preparation work; washing down walls and filling holes and cracks, then making a start on the painting. The late shift, made up of management and administration staff then arrived to finish off the painting in the evening.

Centre Manager Clive De La Haye was pleased with the result "We're grateful to the Guernsey Post team for giving up their own time to help us out. With the outside, main entrance and stairwell now finished it's a far more welcoming sight when people arrive at the centre".

Paul McCormick of Guernsey Post said "The Bridge is an important area to us so we were keen to help out with this project. It's a credit to our team that they wanted to get involved in their own time to help the community that they serve".
