Suspension of the Royal Mail Special DeliveryTM guarantee

Weather conditions are affecting Royal Mail's services in some parts of the UK with snow and ice making collections, deliveries and movement of mail very difficult or unsafe in some areas. Whilst Royal Mail are continuing to accept, prioritise and expect to deliver the majority of Special Delivery items, the changing weather conditions mean they cannot guarantee the delivery of all items the next day in all areas. Therefore, in order to provide customers with clear guidance, they are removing the Special Delivery guarantee for items posted from Wednesday 1st December 2010. They will restore the guarantee of delivery as soon as they can assure customers that they can honour the service promise in full.

However Special Delivery still offers tracking and compensation for lost or damaged items and will remain a priority service during this time.

    Reviewing conditions
Royal Mail are continuing to review local conditions in weather-affected areas and will restore normal services as soon as it is safe and possible for them to do so. We are sorry for the unavoidable service disruption as a result of the weather conditions.
