    UK weather and delivery update.

Customers should be aware that in certain parts of the UK and in particular Scotland, weather conditions have created difficulties for Royal Mail. Where conditions are now improving, they will be attempting deliveries and collections. There may, however, be a delay to mail being delivered as they try to catch up.
On Wednesday weather conditions in Central Scotland, Northern Ireland and North East England continued to have an effect on Royal Mail's air and rail network.
Contingency plans continue to operate to keep mail moving and delays to an absolute minimum. Royal Mail are maintaining services to customers wherever possible. They will restore services fully as soon as it is safe for them to do so.

Temporary withdrawal of the Special DeliveryTM guarantee

The Special DeliveryTM (SD) guarantee has been temporarily withdrawn for all SD items posted since Wednesday 1st December 2010 and Royal Mail will restore the guarantee of delivery as soon as they can be sure that they can honour the service promise in full, but for the time being the suspension remains in place.
