New Sizes
The way you are charged for post has changed. Items are now priced on their weight and size, this is known as Pricing in Proportion, or PiP.
Items are split into 3 formats:
A Letter
This is anything sent in the small sized envelopes you commonly use, half the size of a sheet of A4 or smaller and less than 5mm thick and less than 100g in weight. The maximum size for a Letter is 240mm long and 165mm wide.
e.g. Letters, small birthday cards, sleeved CD or DVD
Large Letter
The large letter format is for any items that are up to 25mm thick and less than 353mm long and less than 250mm wide and less than 750g in weight.
e.g. A4 paper in C4 envelopes, magazines, brochures and boxed CD or DVD
Packet
Is anything larger in size than a Large Letter, so more than 353mm long, or more than 250mm wide, or more than 25mm thick but under 610mm long, 460mm wide or 460mm thick.
e.g. trainers, books and clothes
Packet (rolled item)
No longer than 900mm and length plus twice the diameter to not exceed 1040mm).
