Cost to renew an existing Redirection

The set-up fee is not payable on renewal of existing redirection instructions providing a minimum of seven days notice is given prior to expiry.

How to set up a Redirection notice

The ‘Redirection of Mail’ application form is available from any Guernsey Post branch, Customer Services on 711720 or is available to download below. It must be completed by all residents at the address for whom the notice will be in operation and returned to Customer Services at Envoy House at least seven working days before the service is required. Please ensure that the full terms and conditions have been understood before completing the form.

We recommend that you notify those who use your previous address of your new details as quickly as possible because this service cannot be used permanently and may lead to occasional delays in delivery.

Terms and Conditions of use

• Mail can be redirected for any one person at the same address, provided details and signatures are given on the application form.
• The fees cover redirection of mail for one family unit or company with one address, subject to signatures on application form. Price on application for businesses with multiple addresses.
• Both letters and parcels will be redirected, although different terms apply.
• Mail can be redirected for up to 12 months if it is re-directed to a physical address.
• Mail can be redirected for a maximum of four months if it is redirected from a Private Box. The Private Box must be closed.
• Parcels can be re-directed to Bailiwick, UK, Jersey and Isle of Man addresses. If the new address is in another country, parcels will be returned to the sender.
• Mail for international destinations will be forwarded on a weekly basis.
• The premises at the old address had to be occupied or rented by the applicant.
• Redirections are not possible if the old address is an hotel, boarding house, club, lodgings etc.
• Mail can only be redirected from a Poste Restante address for a maximum of one month.
• Proof of Power of Attorney is required to redirect mail for deceased persons.
• Forms should be handed in or posted with your payment to Guernsey Post, at least seven days before the redirection is required to begin.
• Redirection of mail for businesses must include a letter signed by a director or person in authority on company headed paper.
• A £15 set-up fee is included in the price of setting up a new redirection instruction.
• If you wish the redirection to continue beyond the period for which you have paid, you must submit a new application form along with your payment at least seven days before the date of its expiry. Renewals are charged at multiples of first month rate unless extending to a standard period i.e. three to six months.
• Failure to give seven days notice for renewals may result in a £15 set-up fee being charged.
