Guernsey Post is one of the island’s largest employers and a key part of its essential infrastructure, delivering over 32 million items annually with a turnover of £38million. As the organisation continues to evolve within a changing external environment, we are strengthening our Board to support our long-term strategic direction.
We are seeking an experienced and high-calibre Non-Executive Director to contribute to the Board’s oversight, strategic guidance and governance. This is an opportunity to play an important role in shaping the future of a trusted organisation with a strong community purpose and a clear strategic ambition.
About the Role
You will provide independent challenge, strategic insight and oversight across the organisation’s priorities. The role involves contributing to discussions on strategy, risk, financial stewardship, governance and organisational performance.
The time commitment is approximately 15-20 days per year (excluding induction), with annual remuneration of £15,771.
Experience & Skills
We are looking for individuals with a combination of:
· Strong financial literacy, ideally supported by an accountancy qualification or senior finance experience.
· Experience chairing a Board or Board committee.
· Senior leadership experience within a complex or customer-facing organisation.
· Governance, legal or regulatory expertise.
· Strategic mindset, independent judgement and the ability to influence constructively.
· Expertise in legislation and contracts, with the ability to review, interpret and advise on governance and compliance matters.
· Commercial experience, ideally gained in a trading environment.
· Sector knowledge is helpful but not essential.
