Guernsey Post has announced that it will be introducing changes to its postal rates from Monday 7th April 2014. The key changes are as follows:-
- The price of a letter to the UK will be frozen at 55p. The first weight step for a UK large letter and packet will increase by 3p and 6p respectively.
- The price of a local letter will be increasing by one penny, from 40p to 41p.
- Business rates for customers exporting cut flowers to the UK, will be frozen.
Boley Smillie, Chief Executive said:
'It's been another challenging year for Guernsey Post, but we believe we have been successful in keeping any increases to our postal tariff to a minimum.
We are also confident that our prices remain competitive in comparison with the UK and Europe. As an example Royal Mail will be increasing the price of a letter for UK customers by 2p to 62p. By freezing the UK letter price in Guernsey at 55p, our rate is 7p cheaper.
Our focus on efficiency means we can continue to offer some of the most competitive prices within the UK and Europe. In this regard we have taken the decision to freeze some of our business rates, including flower boxes posted to the UK. We hope that this will assist an industry under significant pressure following the abolishment of LVCR.' Continued Mr Smillie.
For customers wishing to find out more information, the full tariff will be available to download at www.guernseypost.com from Friday 14th March.
