Your Safeplace questions answered
A garden shed, garage, greenhouse or an external storage box are all good places to use. Please note that your selected place must be weatherproof to avoid any damage to items placed there (We do not accept a dustbin as an acceptable Safeplace).
Yes, we would ask that all customers that have previously agreed with their Postal Worker to have items left in a Safeplace to register online and state their Safeplace. This is so that we have up to date records and can advise all new Postal Workers of your requirements.
Yes, you can choose to include ‘signed for’ items in your Safeplace.
Yes, you can choose an adjacent neighbour to accept your parcels and if your neighbour is happy to, they can also sign for any items that require a signature on delivery.
Guernsey Post have the right to decline a Safeplace if we feel it is not suitable, therefore this should not happen. Once an item has been left at an agreed Safeplace, the item is no longer the responsibility of Guernsey Post and therefore no compensation will be given.
When an item is left in a Safeplace, the Postal Worker will post a card through your letterbox to inform you that your item has been left there.
If you have a Keepsafe in place, we will retain your item with the rest of your mail for delivery or collection on the agreed date.
