Guernsey’s post boxes reflect the island’s evolving postal history, beginning with pillar boxes introduced in 1853 after trials inspired by Anthony Trollope.
This box stands beside Corbet Field located in the vale, is the home of Vale Recreation F.C. founded in 1932 by Wilfred J. Corbet and is one of the mist successful clubs in Guernsey football. The club has won the top league, the FNB Priaulx League, sixteen times and has competed in regional competitions including the FA Vase.
The ground itself has grown alongside the club, featuring a grandstand that was redeveloped around 2021, along with associated club facilities. Beyond football, Corbet Field continues to evolve as a multi-sport hub for the north of the island, with plans discussed for additional facilities including a new bowling green for the Northern Bowling Association and Bowls Guernsey. For the local community, it remains much more than a sports ground.
