Places to Visit

Established in 2011, the Little Paper Gallery based in St Martins on Guernsey’s south coast is owned by illustrator and designer Caroline Cummins, who creates hand-drawn illustrated cards and prints of the beautiful Bailiwick islands of Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Lihou.
Blonde Hedgehog

Alderney Animal Welfare Society (AAWS) was set up on the residents’ return to the island after WWII. It was founded in 1953 by a nurse who was moved by the lack of provision of care and the poor welfare of the animals which had been left during the German occupation.

Our 11th Post & Go design, Bailiwick Seashore, celebrates the remarkable wildlife and unique treasures found along our shores, with six stamp designs beautifully illustrated by Guernsey-based artist, Chris Griffiths.
250 Years: Nicolas Blondel Guernsey's Clockmaker

Nicolas Blondel’s clocks were more than just timekeepers: they were pieces of art. Blondel’s contributions to Guernsey’s cultural heritage were recognised in 2018 when a blue plaque was unveiled outside his former home in St Peter Port.
Year of the Snake
Issue date: 6th January 2025
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is the most significant festival in China and is celebrated by millions around the globe. With origins dating back over 4,000 years, it is rooted in ancient agricultural practices and mythological tales. The 12th and final set of Chinese New Year stamps has been created by artist Chrissy Lau, who has worked on Guernsey’s entire series.
Alderney Blue Plaque Trail

The picturesque island of Alderney offers a rich tapestry of history and culture. An interesting way to explore its heritage is through the Alderney Blue Plaque Trail, which commemorates influential people associated with the island. From the Wombles creator to the producer of The Beatles' albums, several famous and influential people have been born in, visited, or chosen to make Alderney their home.

Guernsey Christmas 2024 - The Snowman
Issue date: 25th October 2024
The snowman, a symbol of winter joy and creativity, has a rich history dating back to medieval times when abundant snow inspired artistic expression. From appearing on early postcards and silent films in the 1800s to the renowned Italian artist Michelangelo sculpting a snowman in 1494, the tradition evolved. Notably, the "Miracle of 1511" in Brussels showcased over 100 snowmen as a form of social commentary during unrest.
Alderney Christmas 2024 - The Snowman

Local artist Penny Dawes created delightful stamps featuring a snowman who comes to life on Alderney during the festive season. As he explores, he encounters iconic island species and mythical creatures. Along the High Street, he meets a Christmas fairy and a native blonde hedgehog, forging a friendship.
UPU: 150th Anniversary

We are delighted to commemorate 150 years of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) with four stamps marking some of the key moments in its history, along with an exciting initiative celebrating the UPU’s important milestone. The campaign will benefit posts, collectors, associations, and the general public, helping to achieve even greater visibility for philately.
Guernsey by Day and Night

Guernsey Post’s new non-value indicator (NVI) retail booklets containing stamps depicting Day and Night Scenes, which showcase the natural beauty of the Bailiwick of Guernsey’s stunning islands. Available in GY and UK values from 25 July, the self-stick stamps feature photographic images taken by talented Guernsey photographers Chris George and Ben Fiore.

100 Years: Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club

Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club (SACC) in Guernsey is celebrating its 100th birthday with several events and activities taking place throughout the year. Among the plans is an ambitious and innovative community project One Brushstroke, which offers islanders the opportunity to add one brushstroke to a digital canvas, to create a piece of artwork and lasting legacy made by, and for, the people of Guernsey.
300 Years: Casquets Lighthouse

In 1940, when British forces were withdrawn from the Channel Islands during WWII, the Germans seized the opportunity to occupy British territory and the islands were heavily fortified. One such fortification was Casquets Lighthouse, which the Germans had set up as a naval signalling station, possibly believing the surrounding treacherous waters would be enough to protect them from any commando-style raids. Despite being heavily defended, the occupied Channel Islands remained vulnerable to such raids.
Clematis Gold: Diana's Delight

In recognition of his many decades’ achievements and services to the horticultural industry, alongside his passion and devotion in promoting the Island of Guernsey, Raymond Evison was recently appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) - the highest-ranking Order of the British Empire award outside a knighthood or damehood. Raymond is no stranger to accolades, having won no fewer than 33 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show, most recently in 2023.
Europa: Underwater Fauna and Flora

Designer Chloe Sarre has created some wonderful stamps for our Europa-themed issue depicting Guernsey’s Underwater Fauna and Flora, which feature the work of underwater photographer, Sue Daly, and illustrator Wendy Bramall. For each stamp, Chloe has combined Wendy’s illustrations with Sue’s underwater photographs; the flora and fauna are separated by a paper tear to create the effect of ‘revealing’ the photograph underneath the illustration. We hope you enjoy this fabulous issue as much as we do!
Celebrating 200 Years of the RNLI

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has been saving lives at sea since it was founded in 1824. Since then, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have rescued over 144,000 people, and it continues to provide lifesaving services to those in need. The RNLI celebrates its bicentenary in 2024 and has planned a series of events and activities to mark this milestone.
150th Anniversary of the GSPCA

The Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) is celebrating 150 years of rescuing animals in Guernsey and further afield. Every year, the charity helps more than 3,000 sick, injured, stray, cruelly treated, and unwanted animals. Founded in 1873, the GSPCA's key aims are to prevent cruelty to all animals, rescue animals in distress, provide shelter for strays, and foster kindness and consideration in the treatment of animals and birds, whether domestic or wild.
Post and Go: Guernsey Coat of Arms

We are delighted to feature the Coat of Arms of Guernsey, the official symbol of the Island, on our latest Post & Go stamps. We know that Edward I, in 1279, despatched to his Bailiff in Guernsey a specially cut seal of office bearing the Royal Arms, but what are the origins of the three lions?
Alderney Post Boxes

The story of the post box, or pillar-box, begins in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, but how did it become the iconic symbol it is today? Prior to the ground breaking reforms introduced by Rowland Hill in the Victorian period, the British postal service was cumbersome and expensive. Hill believed that if it were cheaper to send letters, more people would do so, whilst also boosting communication and trade.
Year of the Dragon

As we celebrate Chinese New Year of the Dragon 2024, here are some of the customs and traditions which take place during Lunar New Year. Chinese New Year – or Spring Festival – focuses on removing the bad and the old and welcoming in the new and the good. It is a time to worship ancestors, exorcise evil spirits and pray for good harvest. Celebrations including a dragon dance, fireworks – said to ward off evil spirits - temple fairs and flower market shopping are just some of the vibrant activities that take place.
