This box is a replica of the Victorian Union Street post box, reflecting Guernsey’s evolving postal history, which began with the introduction of pillar boxes in 1853 after trials inspired by Anthony Trollope’s observations in Europe. Although its installation date is unrecorded, it served the hotel until the box's closure in November 2025.
