Guernsey’s post boxes reflect the island’s evolving postal history, beginning with the introduction of pillar boxes in 1853 after trials inspired by Anthony Trollope’s observations in Europe. This box was known as Summerland - named after the one-time Torteval Sub Post Office. Installed in October 1951, the box served the community until its closure in November 2025.
