Guernsey Post is excited to announce the launch of two new initiatives designed to make online shopping easier and more accessible for islanders.
Guernsey Post’s new myUKaddress service launches on 17 October and provides an ideal solution for Guernsey residents who wish to shop from e-commerce retailers that currently do not ship directly to Guernsey.
Guernsey Post customers who sign up for the service will receive a unique UK delivery address which they can use for their online purchases. Once items are received at the UK parcel hub, which is based in Portsmouth, they are then shipped to Guernsey and delivered by local Posties.
Cassandra Fish, Head of Commercial at Guernsey Post said “We know that a frustration of island life is trying to shop online and finding out at checkout—or worse, days later—that the item you want is restricted to mainland delivery. Our new UK hub removes this barrier for island customers by offering a UK address. Once items arrive at the hub, we ship these to Guernsey and deliver these together with our regular parcel service. Signing up to myUKaddress is completely free, and after that we’ve introduced a simple, straightforward pricing structure for each parcel.”
In addition to this Guernsey Post will shortly be launching an Online Directory, RockShopper, which will offer an extensive list of online retailers that either deliver directly to Guernsey or that can be accessed using the new myUKaddress service. This user-friendly platform will highlight key features such as stores that deduct VAT at the checkout for Guernsey residents, free delivery options and retailers offering easy returns. The RockShopper Online Directory will also include local retailers, further enhancing the shopping experience for Guernsey residents. Cassandra Fish added, “Some local businesses have already responded very positively to being featured in our directory which is great as we know some customers would love to shop locally from the comfort of their armchair. We’ve also introduced a special local delivery rate available to all local businesses offering customer deliveries. If any local businesses are interested in learning more, we’d encourage them to get in touch.”
To complement its online directory which will be available next month, Guernsey Post has launched two new social media channels for Facebook and Instagram, providing keen shoppers with the latest updates on new retailers, exclusive deals, and useful shipping tips, giving people the chance to discover even more brands that serve Guernsey.
Steve Sheridan, Deputy Chief Executive added, “The collaborative efforts of staff on these key projects represent a significant milestone in Guernsey Post’s ongoing transformation programme. By expanding our services and making online shopping more accessible for Guernsey residents, we aim to meet the evolving demands of the local market and continue to deliver value to our customers.”
