Guernsey Post is proud to announce the installation of R;pple, an award-winning digital crisis intervention tool designed to intercept distressing internet searches related to suicide and self-harm, instantly providing users with access to free 24/7 mental health support services.
The installation of R;pple across Guernsey Post’s public WiFi network is part of the company’s broader mental health and well-being strategy, aiming to support those experiencing mental health crises.
Boley Smillie, Chief Executive of Guernsey Post said: “Mental health challenges affect everyone and R;pple is a proactive measure to provide support to individuals when they might need it most.”
Alice Hendy MBE, Founder and CEO of R;pple said: “We are thrilled to welcome Guernsey Post as the first post office to deploy the R;pple tool. Their commitment to prioritising staff safety and well-being sets a strong example for others in the industry to follow."
The R;pple tool maintains strong standards of data privacy and security. It is Cyber Essentials certified, pen-tested, and does not collect, monitor or track any personally identifiable data from users' searches. R;pple can be installed for free by educational establishments, charities and individuals on any laptop or desktop device. If a person searches for harmful keywords and phrases related to self-harm or suicide, the R;pple tool will guide them through a filter of breathing exercises and then give a simple, calmly presented screen with helplines, mental health services and forums, they can access immediately and in the longer term.
