Guernsey Post is again encouraging local children and their families to take part in a Christmas scavenger hunt, which will see several Bailiwick postboxes receive festive makeovers courtesy of talented local crochet artist Tamara O'Brien.
Mum-of-three Tamara, whose crochet creations first appeared on postboxes around the island to raise people's spirits during lockdown, has been busy creating nine festive toppers which will soon appear on postboxes around the island, each bearing a letter. When joined together, the nine letters spell out a word associated with Christmas.
Tamara said: - "I'm so excited to be part of this project with Guernsey Post for the second year running. I've worked hard to complete nine post box toppers for this year's competition, and it will be fantastic if they brighten up someone's day."
Dawn Gallienne, head of corporate engagement at Guernsey Post, said: - "Tamara's Christmas themed toppers are delightful and bound to get children and their families in the festive spirit. It would be wonderful to see as many children as possible across the Bailiwick taking part and entering the competition. We're excited to see her creations appearing across the island in the next few days and we're grateful for her continued support."
The competition, which runs from 1-18 December, is open to school children in KS1 (Reception to Year 2) and KS2 (Year 3 to Year 6), with a £50 Aladdin's Cave voucher for one lucky winner in each category.
The Christmas themed crochet toppers will be located at nine locations comprising: Market Steps, Town Church, The Bordage, Beau Sejour, Sir Charles Frossard House, Co-op The Bridge, Co-op St Martin, St Peters Post Office and Envoy House.
